Patricia's story by Torie2 Summary: Another take on "Amazing Grace." What would have happened if Neil and Margaret had had children. Disclaimer: I am not trying to infringe on Christy and the characters. I just love the story and this story is written for my enjoyment. The cold November wind caused Patricia MacNeil to shiver with cold as she and her mother, Margaret made their way to Cutter Gap. The cove was fascinating to Patricia's 14-year-old eyes. Margaret said that her mother lived in that cove and ran a mission. Patricia was curious as to what her grandmother Alice Henderson was like. She had never met her grandmother or her father either. Her mother said that her father was a doctor who would be too busy to take care of a little girl. Often Patricia wondered if her mother said that to be cruel. Her mother had a mean streak in her that caused people not to like her too much. It didn't help that Patricia looked like her father either. Her medium brown hair curled like his and when she smiled or frowned she looked like him too. "How far is it, Mama?" Patricia asked, running to catch up to her mother. Margaret had a cigarette in her mouth and was adjusting the scarf around her head. "Not far. We'll be there in two hours," Margaret said, taking the cigarette out of her mouth. "Tell me again what Grandmother's like," Patricia asked, walking next to her mother. "Mother. She's stubborn and obstinate. She's a Quaker, you know," Margaret said. "Aren't you the same way?" Patricia asked, giving a cheeky grin at her mother. "You bite your tongue! Mother uses all those thees' and thous.' I used to couldn't stand it," Margaret said, her face reddening with anger. "Probably because you're mad at God," Patricia said dryly. Patricia had become a Christian some weeks earlier to her mother's anger. Margaret didn't like the fact that God was in control of her life. Every time Patricia had tried to talk to her mother about God Margaret rejected him more. Patricia pulled a flimsy scarf over her head and tried to brave the cold on the way to the mission.
