The Choice by Miss A Part/Chapter: All No matter how long I stared into my mirror, the question remained the same: how would I know I had chosen the right one? I had asked advice from everyone " Miss Alice, Miss Hattie, Fairlight, Daddy, even Dan Scott and Ruby Mae! But I still didn't know if I had made the right choice. Miss Alice had said to pray about it, which is the same advice Miss Hattie and Daddy had given me. Ruby Mae had said to pick this best looking one, but if I did that, there would be no contest, and I still wouldn't know. Dan said he normally didn't help in matters like these, but the best advice he could give me was to follow my heart. Everyone agreed on this one point, but how could I follow my heart if I couldn't think straight? I had thought about talking it over with Neil, but I decided not to. He was always able to help me collect my thoughts, but this time he was too involved in this to be able to help me much. And there was absolutely no use going to David! He'd just tell me to do what I thought was best, after making sure I knew what he wanted. So I had had to make this decision alone. Then I remembered that I wasn't really alone. "Lord", I prayed, "help me know if I've made the right choice." And I knew I had. A short time later, Neil walked into the room. "Christy, I need a.." He stopped as he looked around the room, then back at me. "Do you like it, Neil?" He smiled. "Lass, it's better than I thought it would be. Who knew a simple pair of lace curtains could change a room so much?" "Then you think it will do?" I asked hopefully. Neil smiled even wider, put his arms around me and said, "Mrs. MacNeill, if our baby is to have this old room for a nursery, I will personally make sure you have all the resources you need to ready it in time." I smiled and added, "And all the help I want." Neil laughed. "Of course! What else are expectant fathers for?" The End!
