Disclaimer: The beautiful words of Christy, by Catherine Marshall, are owned by the Marshall and LeSourd families. This is just for fun. Title: The Sci Fi Channel's Christy Author: Sherry To James: Thanks for wondering how other networks would fare with Christy. *********************** Opal stood on her porch. She could see strange, flashing lights in the distance. Taking one of her son's prize pumpkins with her, in case she needed a weapon, she walked slowly toward the lights. It was a flying saucer! And little green people like creatures were leaving the vehicle through a door near the top. One of the green folk approached Opal. "We come in peace. I am Harriet Quimmartian. Does anyone around her repair flying saucers?" said the green person. Opal looked around. She saw Bird's-eye Taylor sneaking around in the woods. "Bird's-eye!" Opal shouted. Bird's-eye came a-runnin'. He and Opal had once courted and he still had a soft spot in his heart for her. Harriet explained her dilemma to Bird's-eye, who started looking at the flying saucer. Soon, Bird's-eye fixed the saucer and the green folk were on their way back to their home planet. Harriet gave Bird's-eye some genetically engineered corn in exchange for his repair work. Opal and Bird's-eye stood in the woods watching the flying saucer lift off and float away. "Ah best be goin', Bird's -eye." said Opal. "Tomorrow is Christy and Doc's wedding and Ah don't wanna miss a moment of it." The End (in the PBS version, Christy married Elmo.. . I mean Neil. In the Sci Fi Channel version she marries Neil. It is what is meant to be.)
