MIRROR FANFIC "NEWLY WED" I looked in the mirror and nothing had changed. I didn't know what I expected... but I was disappointed. There I saw the same large blue eyes and the same determined mouth. I expected... I expected... well, the truth is that I expected a new maturity... a more womanly me, now that I was a married woman. My husband , my husband! My husband was asleep in our bed. I kissed his cheek as quietly as I could before I slipped out of bed and sat down at my vanity. And now I was here, alone in front of the mirror, searching for changes in my face. I picked up my hairbrush and started brushing my sunstreaked brown hair. Suddenly I wanted to remember every detail of my wedding while it was still fresh in my mind. I closed my eyes and saw my father's happy tears as I took his arm to walk to Neil in the church. I remembered laughing when Mary Allen, Fairlight, and the other women teased me about enjoying the peace and quiet of married life before our young'uns started arriving. And my schoolchildren! I would never forget their oohs and ahhs when they saw me in my wedding dress. They made me feel like a princess. My mother watched the wedding with a calm acceptance and glowing pride. There were so many moments to remember. And I had to memorize my husband's face when he saw me in the church. He stopped nervously pulling at his hair and he stood as still as I have ever seen him. His blue eyes were gentle, full of love and wonder. I picked up my bridal bouquet and I inhaled the sweet scent of the flowers Neil had chosen just for me. I will never forget Miss Alice's tears of joy when she told Neil that he could kiss his bride! When Neil took me in his arms I could feel his relief that the ceremony was over. In my husband's burly arms I felt safe, secure and loved. As I looked into the mirror again I saw Neil's face next to mine. He kissed my cheek and put his hands on my shoulders. Then my husband took my hand and led me back to our bed. "Mrs. MacNeill." my husband whispered in a husky voice. He pulled me close and we loved each other as husband and wife.
