Title: Fairlight's 'Blue' Vision Author: Allysen You guys are having way too much fun with this ... so count me in! Fairlight's 'Blue' Vision "Miz Christy! Miz Christy!" Fairlight practically runs up the hill to the schoolhouse. She sees Miss Christy walking from the mission house to the school house and intercepts her. "Why Fairlight, What's happened? What's the matter?" Christy is concerned for Fairlight's wild eyed look and fly away hair. She holds out her hands to grasp Fairlight's cold, blue hands. Fairlight comes to a stop beside Miss Christy and tries to get her breath. "Oh Miz Christy!" Fairlight shuddered. "I had me 'nother one o' my visions, Miz Christy, tell me what it means." Miss Christy gulped and then in her most schoolteacherly manner asked. "I will try, Fairlight. Please tell me about it." "Oh Miz Christy, it's a terrible one, I know it 'tis. I had a vision where everything either is blue or turns blue." Miss Christy thinks for a moment. "Do you think it means we will have a very bad winter and we all turn blue because we cannot get warm?" Fairlight looks at Christy and shrugs. "Don't know." "Well, tell me what is blue in your vision?" "Why practically everythin' Miss Christy." Fairlight begins. "Firstly, I seen some blueberries in my favorite blue bowl sitting on my table. The cheese on the table was even turning blue. What's it mean, Miss Christy?" "I'm not sure, Fairlight. Let's see." Christy said "Food? A bowl? Anything else?" "Why yes! I saw some bluebonnet flowers, the grass even turned blue, some bluebirds, bluejays, bluegils, blue crabs, I saw a Blue whale and I even saw a great big blue ox." "Animals? Plants? This is getting serious." Big blue eyes looked back into big, blue eyes. "I seen something called the Blue Ridge Mountains, Blue spruce, O' Course I know what a blue spruce are." Fairlight's eyes grew as big as saucers. "But that ain't the worst of 'it, Miz Christy." Fairlight leaned over and whispered into Christy's ear. "Doctor MacNeill's WHAT turned blue?" Christy shouted. "Shhhhh!" Fairlight flapped her arms and motioned her to be quiet. "His chest!" She leaned over conspiratorially. "He asked me for an extra large shirt!" "An extra large shirt? Now what does that have to do with anything?" "Don't know, Miz Christy. That's up to you to figure out...." Christy tapped her chin with her finger. "Well, I guess that might mean that Doctor MacNeill will need an extra large bar of soap when he goes bathing tonight!" Both ladies collapsed in a fit of giggles. The End! Allysen & Regina(singing meet me at the river! sigh) Thanks Gina!
